Why can't guys carry ladies' bags?
by Yeoh Wee Teck

WHEN it comes to bags, there is no such thing as gender equality.

There is just no justice for men.

While women can carry a haversack or sports bag without so much as a raised eyebrow, a man with a dainty purse would likely get a lipstick thrown at him.

But all that seems set to change. Men can actually find wearable styles in the women’s bag department.

Alvin Cher, 35, the man behind the immensely popular website bagaholicboy. com, said there is nothing wrong about sharing.

“If girls can wear their boyfriends’ jeans, why can’t guys carry ladies’ bags?” But it’s not that simple . He advised: “The trick is making sure it is not too fussy in design, picking a more appropriate colour and making sure the proportion works.

“A tall guy, for example, should never be caught dead carrying a tiny bag no matter how gender-neutral it looks.”

The man who dares to carry a unisex bag will need to have an open mind and at least a pair of trendy shoes to go with it.

You may want to expand your husband’s wardrobe, but if he is the straight-laced sort with a drawer of poly-blend trousers, it will be trying on both your sanity and his aesthetics. Take it easy with him.

Send him to a great hairstylist, introduce skincare into his lifestyle and slowly add pieces of fashion items into his wardrobe.

Baby steps will go a long way. And before you know it, he is as trendy as you are.

But if he is an on-trend metrosexual, he may already be carrying a bag that you desire. In this instance, consider yourself lucky because now, your bag collection
has expanded.
