Should Miss Norway have won?
While it was a sweet victory for 2010's Miss World Alexandria from Louisville, Kentucky, US, her claim to the crown has been somewhat diminished after observers said Miss Norway, her biggest rival, was left out cold in the competition because of the ongoing spat over jailed Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo's Nobel prize win.
China is reportedly furious ever since the Oslo-based Nobel Peace Prize committee awarded the coveted prize to him.
Norwegian TV personality, Kathrine Sorland, who came fourth in Miss World 2002, said: "I was sure she would win.
"They must have mixed politics and business."
Alexandria Mills was crowned the new Miss World in China's resort island of Sanya, after beating 115 other girls to the title.
Miss Norway came in as fifth runner-up, while Miss Botswana, Emma Wareus and Miss Venezuela, Adriana Vasini, were in first and second runner-up spots.
Miss China, Xiao Tang bagged the fourth spot, and Miss Ireland, Emma Britt Waldron took third runner-up position.
