WOMEN are more vulnerable than men and need protection, said the Ministry for Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) in a statement yesterday.
This was in response to public feedback on proposed amendments to the Women's Charter introduced yesterday which will tighten the rules on men who default on maintenance payments for children and former wives.
MCYS said: "Not withstanding the progress made by women, a gap still exists between men and women on the socioeconomic front."
The proposed amendments, which also aim to address the rising divorce rate, were posted on government feedback website Reach from Sept 13 until October and amassed 250 responses.
