Rene Liu speaks up on her philosophy in life

Taiwanese singer and actress Rene Liu has been very busy lately.

From promoting her latest Mando-pop album, Together, earlier this year, to staging her first concert in Singapore in November this year, the 41-year-old actress is resolutely keeping herself hard at work and away from the gossip that has resurfaced about her long-dead affair with Taiwanese director Chen Kuo-fu.

Other than that, her love life has been quiet, although she had admitted to a distaste for weddings to The New Paper, in an interview with the English daily that was published in last month.

She was seen again in Singapore at the Marina Bay Sands, having just been appointed as Swiss watch brand, Rado's new brand ambassador.

According to Mr Olivier Cosandier, the Vice President of Sales for Rado,  Rene was selected to represent the brand because her "quality of always looking for opportunities to go beyond and push her own limits by not just being a singer or an actress but to challenge herself to do both and to even write literature and expand her range" resonated with the brand's philosophy of challenging itself to more innovative technology and better design.

Diva managed to slip in a few questions while she was in town:

Diva:
Why do you think that you have been asked to be Rado's ambassador? Are you excited about it?

Rene: I am very excited and honored to be asked to be Rado's ambassador. I believe it is because of our similar ideals of always wanting to challenge and push ourselves forward. Rado does not just focus on watch-making but they seek to go beyond and invent new ideas and technology which is something I always strive to do as well in my performances, my songs, my movies and literature.

Diva: What's your one must-have fashion accessory?

Rene: I don't have any accessory that I must wear or cannot do without but if I have to dress up for a particular event, and if I really have to choose, the first thing I would look for is a pair of suitable earrings.

Diva: Do you think that it is important to keep up with fashion trends?

Rene: Fashion is essential but the more important thing is to know what looks good on you and what compliments you. The industry can take a fashion trend and turn it around if it isn't suitable for one individual so the most important thing is to be yourself, and as long as you are happy, you will look more confident.

Diva: Choose the best word that describes you

Rene:
- Trend / Stylish
- Passive /  Agressive
- Thinker / Doer (Depends on the situation so there's no answer to it)
- Romantic / Practical
- Beach Holiday / City trip
- Read / Surf the internet
- Party / Homely
- Carefree / Careful
- Fine-dining / Casual Cookout
- Sporty / Laid-back
