WILL Fish Leong become a mother next year?
The queen of Mandarin ballads says her goal this year isn't to have kids.
Instead, she wants to embark on a concert tour and perform for her fans first.
To Leong, 32, having children and creating music have something in common.
She feels both must be properly planned and cannot be rushed into.
Perhaps Leong will wait till she's done with her tour before she starts the baby-making process.
This year, Leong, who was in Shanghai, celebrated Chinese New Year as a married woman for the first time. She married Taiwanese businessman Tony Chao, who is in his mid-30s, in February last year.
She shared her experience during this period of festivities on her blog.
"It's so cold outside. Mother asked us this morning what we felt like eating today," she wrote. "Father will also ask what we are having for lunch.
"So I have been fed very well and am really full from having the delicious beehoon soup that Mother cooked.
"Now Mother is asking whether I'm hungry and I want to have some sesame dumplings.
"I said no and felt very happy and contented after that."
Leong had flown her family to Shanghai so that they could spend Chinese New Year with her. Over the moon
Added Leong on her blog: "Mother and Father are over the moon as they also wanted to spend some time sightseeing and shopping around Shanghai."
Leong was asked about what she felt when she gave out red packets for the first time.
Said Leong: "People who should be given red packets every year are still (being) given the red packets.
"The bulk of it goes to relatives. So it didn't differ much from the previous year."
But has she considered having children so she and her husband can recoup their "losses"?
Said Leong: "The older folks haven't pushed us to have kids so that they can have grandchildren to play with.
"On the contrary, they have advised that we think carefully before we decide to have a child.
"They have also said that we should plan the entire thing properly too.
"Most importantly, they felt that we shouldn't be too eager about such things and just rush into it."
Leong revealed that she has been asked about her baby-making plans ever since she got hitched.
Said Leong: "I don't think I'll be having a kid in the Year of the Rabbit.
"The reason is that I will only finish the promotional activities for my album next month.
"Then after that, I have to start my preparations for my concert tour.
"So from the looks of it, I really don't think that there is time to start the baby-making process."
