WOMEN here are not doing enough to combat breast cancer, the Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) organising committee said yesterday.
Only 41 per cent of women with a high risk of getting the disease go for regular screening, it said, citing figures from the Health Promotion Board.
To mark BCAM next month, the committee announced that it aims to get at least 70 per cent of women, aged 50 and above, to go for regular breast-cancer screening.
The committee, comprising health-related organisations, also announced initiatives to raise awareness of breast cancer among women. For instance, the Singapore Cancer Society is providing a subsidy of $20 for women to undergo mammograms.
Estee Lauder Companies will sponsor mammograms for 500 needy women. It will also be holding a light-up of the Singapore Flyer on Saturday at 7pm.
to check for lump daily is pretty taxing and there are time that they are swollen so it's not accurate. massage I agree but usually I press the acupuncture (Chinese) point to make them bigger. hahahaha :p
actually u dun have to wait to do it monthly, you can do it even each time you shower, treat it like a massage... just feel for any lump there...
