Hong Kong actress Sonija Kwok, 37, recently announced to the Hong Kong media that she is more than three months pregnant.

The newlywed married Zhu Shao Jie, a 32-year-old Chinese action choreographer, in April. 

When the former beauty queen found out about her pregnancy, her husband was working overseas so she could only relay the good news to him over the telephone.

While Kwok's husband is rooting for a baby girl, the actress said she would be happy either way.

"If it's a girl, I can help her dress up, if it's a boy, he can protect me in the future," she said.

The actress revealed that the first few months of her pregnancy was not easy as she kept vomiting. However, she is blessed to have her mother take care of her and make soup for her to drink.

It was reported that Kwok had to turn down a number of acting offers, amounting to "seven-figure sums", due to her pregnancy but the actress said it "is very worth it because it is a happy occasion".

She will be undergoing a Caesarean section to deliver her child and will return to work after giving birth.
