The chair adjusts to the size of your child, ensuring he or she is always at the perfect height to eat, play and interact with his or her feet and back properly supported - at whatever age.

It is designed to fit right into your table, allowing your child to learn and develop right alongside you.

The chair was designed by Peter Opsvik in Scandinavia back in 1972.

He got his inspiration from watching his own young son, Tor, struggle to find a comfortable position to sit in at their family table.

Having grown out of his old-fashioned high chair but still far too small to sit on an adult's chair, Tor was left dangling his legs and struggling to reach the table.

The chair's ergonomic design supposedly allows freedom of movement and encourages play and independence while still making safety paramount.

Now, Stokke has launched an exclusive wood collection, featuring American walnut and European oak.

Both types of wood have been highly valued for furniture production for ages and claim superior strength, density and timber structure.

The modern classic Scandinavian designs exude luxury with their oiled wood finish, aimed to complement any high-end interior.

If you are looking for something more affordable, its classic range made from cultivated beechwood is varnished in a selection of colours and retails at $519.

BabyBjörn High Chair

This high chair's speciality is its foldable table, which also acts as an ingenious safety lock and keeps your child securely in place with its clever two-stage child-proof lock.

With the foldable table in the open position, placing your child in the high chair or taking him or her out from the side is effortless and convenient. It involves no uncomfortable lifting.

Once you've closed and adjusted the table snugly against the child, he or she will remain securely seated without any need for an extra harness.

A detachable tray that is dishwasher-safe and hand-washable is simple to clean and attaches onto the foldable table.

It also prevents spills as the table is adjusted to fit snugly against your child's body.

The design follows the baby's body and has a curved backrest and adjustable table that provides a comfortable seat for babies from six months to two years old or a maximum height of 95cm.

The high chair is also handy, space-saving and easy to place. It is simple to fold for storage or travel.

Valencia Wooden High Chair

Okay, for people who want the oh-so-stylish wooden chair but not the price, maybe this more affordable version will do.

It comes with a full safety harness, a foot rest and a large wooden food tray.

It can be folded flat for storage, has a seat height of 55cm and weighs 9kg.

It is available at Mothercare.

Mothercare Convertible High Chair

Price: $149

This is a two-in-one chair, which converts to a low table and chair for your child as he or she grows.

It is made from solid rubberwood, has a detachable crotch strap and has fittings for a safety harness and a cushion insert, which are sold separately.

The removable plastic tray can be wiped clean and the chair has a height of 57cm and weighs 8kg.

When converted into a low table, the table's height is 42cm and the low chair's height is 21cm.
