Make a splash
by Daryl Yam

Hopefully this rain we've been having eases up. To whet appetites for swimming days ahead, we look at swimwear.

Swimwear Monokini by Forever 21 (pictured above)
Price: $33 (prints) and $39 (in black)

For an equally daring alternative on a budget, shoppers can turn to Forever 21 for a selection with designs that are both eye-popping and attention-grabbing.

The black monokini, priced at $39, hugs the silhouette nicely while the frills subtly draw attention to the bustline.

The patterned piece, priced at $33, features bold colours and is definitely for women with spades of confidence.

The monokinis retail at all Forever 21 stores, though stocks are reportedly running low.

Arena Ladies One Piece SwimWear by Arena
Price: $58.85

For something more practical, Arena is a go-to swimwear brand for many Singaporean swimmers, competitive or recreational.

Established in 1973, Arena claimed that it is the first company to conduct research in textiles and fluid dynamics to establish the highest of quality in its swimwear.

The Arena Ladies One Piece is a no-frills, practical swimsuit that comes in colours such as red, blue and black.

It retails at all Arena and Sun Paradise outlets.

Alliance T-Splice Maxback range by TYR
Price: $62.90

Swimwear from this company - which is named after the Norse god of warriors Tyr - is both performance-driven and stylish.

The Hydrodynamic Hi-Back Boyleg ($64.90) and the Alliance T-Splice Maxback (pictured) catch our eye, with their striking colour combinations such as blue and orange, and red and black.

For The New Paper on Sunday readers: If you take this page to TYR's showroom between April 16 and April 21, you can buy each swimsuit for $29.90.

The showroom is at 8 Jalan Kilang Timor, #03-01, Kewalram House, Singapore 159305. Call 6472-1011.

Perline Range by Silvian Imberg
Price: $625

Dusted with crystals, the Perline is an exciting piece from Silvian Imberg's Spring/Summer 2012 collection.

It stays true to the Imberg style by complementing its glamorous European design with fine Italian silk, offering a swimsuit that is both functional and sexy.

This white monokini exudes class and elegance and would be suitable for the poolside, a yacht, a resort bar or a beach party.

And yes, you can swim in it.

It retails at Silvian Imberg's boutique store at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.
