Babes fail to deliver
by Jeanmarie Tan

Higher expectations.

That's what I had when judging the Los Angeles premiere of the female-dominated pregnancy comedy, What To Expect When You're Expecting - especially since it's featuring five hot US actresses.

They play mums-to-be who experience the thrills and surprises of having a baby in interconnected storylines.

But like the critically-panned flick, the majority of its cast also didn't, well, deliver off-screen.

1

Leading the pack and clearly the best dressed of the bunch is the always impeccable Elizabeth Banks, 38.

She continues her hot streak from The Hunger Games press tour in head-to-toe Alexander McQueen - from the delicious maroon embroidered patterned tea-length dress to the gorgeous matching knuckle clutch and strappy pumps.

Her wardrobe has been so eclectic, I'm always excited to see what's next.

2

Anna Kendrick, 26, looks pretty enough in this nude cocktail dress with diamante embellishments by Elie Saab.

The matching clutch and Christian Louboutin ankle strap heels are nice complements, but I'm getting a sense of deja vu because Kendrick hasn't met a flesh-coloured frock she didn't love.

3

This black knit Valentino micro-mini with long sleeves and flouncy skirt should be banned from anyone other than a cutesy 20-something.

But Cameron Diaz, 39, doesn't care.

Only problem is, seeing her in it is a reminder that she's no longer a cutesy 20-something.

And being forced to see her white bra underneath makes me detest the outfit even more.

4

I know the movie is about pregnancy and all, but that doesn't give Jennifer Lopez, 42, the excuse to turn up in a frumpy maternity garment.

The billowing Maria Lucia Hohan blush silk gown slashed down the front with long blouson sleeves adds volume, and worse, years.

The matronly low ponytail and dark lips don't help either.

This is proof Lopez should just stick to the short, tight and sparkly stuff.

5

Yes, Brooklyn Decker, I know you're suffering from Battleship promo tour fashion fatigue.

But not even a top model can get away with bedsheet couture.

The 25-year-old inexplicably covered up her hot bod with an awful yellow and white Giambattista Valli drop-waist halter maxi dress with mismatched prints.

Please get off the red carpet and head straight to the beach, thank you very much.
