LOCAL actress-director Michelle Chong has chosen fresh face Jae Liew, 22, to play the female lead in her upcoming movie 3 Peas In A Pod.

Liew - who graduated from Murdoch University in Australia with a degree in communications - beat over 800 girls who auditioned.

The movie tells the story of three university friends from Taiwan, Korea and Singapore who go on a road trip that changes their lives forever.

It also stars Taiwanese singer-actor Calvin Chen and former K-pop boy band member Alexander Lee Eusebio. Filming will take place in March and the movie is slated for release late this year.

Chong said: "There was something about (Jae's) bubbly personality that stuck with me throughout the auditions.
