The Place Vendôme in Paris is known for its stretch of luxury boutiques and deluxe hotels; but it was originally built as a monument in honour of the aristocratic armies of Louis XIV.
However those familiar with the Chanel brand will also know that the octagonal plaza that was once home to Mademoiselle Chanel is now where the Chanel fine jewellery flagship store stands.
The iconic building has served as the design inspiration for the bottle stopper of the classic Chanel N°5 perfume as well as the French label's first watch - the original Première in 1987.
This year, Chanel has launched the 2013 Première - a contemporary update to the original 1987 timepiece. Available in steel, white gold and yellow gold bracelets with either a mother of pearl or black lacquered dial, the new Première presents a slimmer, more streamlined silhouette that exudes femininity with a touch of retro charm. Those out to dazzle can also opt for the bezel and/or bracelet set with 56 brilliant-cut diamonds.
Not only is the Chanel Première 2013 stunningly stylish, minimal maintenance required as the timepiece comes with a high-precision quartz movement. "Première" in every way.
The Chanel Première 2013 watches are available at the Chanel Fine Jewellery boutique at 391 Orchard Road, Takashimaya Shopping Centre #01-04 and are priced from $5,730. For more information, visit www.chanel.com/premiere_watch.
