HONG KONG - They had a long courtship, and chances are, singers Sammi Cheng and Andy Hui may have a long engagement too.
Days after the engagement was confirmed, Hui, 46, said he and Cheng, 41, had yet to decide when to register their marriage, reported website NetEase.
But when they do hold a wedding and a banquet, he said, "I'm sure we won't be able to hide it from you".
He added that he would let his fiancee make the decision.
"After all, she's a girl."
Interviewed at a party after Thursday night's Metro Radio Hit Awards, he recounted how he had gone down on bended knee at Cheng's August birthday bash to ask her to marry him.
"It was her birthday that night, so I tried, for once in my life. All the things people do, I did," he said.
He said his proposal was "calm but sincere", and they both shed tears.
Asked about their November family gathering in Bali, which Apple Daily said was their secret wedding, he answered: "It was a meal, nothing special, but we were happy."
