New Summer Collection by Egg Maternity
|
I've been drawn to the pieces from this maternity wear label from New Zealand since it opened its only outlet in VivoCity. Unfortunately, I never had the excuse to step into that store since I wasn't pregnant then. But now that I am, I'm a bit more excited by the collections designed by its founder Charlotte Deveraux.
This summer, the offerings are Aztec prints and Middle Eastern minimalism meet French Riviera - which sounds gorgeous enough to me for a lovely evening out with friends on a dinner date.
I like that the label has a versatile range of dressier pieces that have free, floaty silhouettes. And from the Charlotte Devereux for EGG, there is a lot more evening wear choices that can accomodate a growing tummy and mummy still looks glam.
I just like the idea that there are pieces which I can dress up in and just feel pretty without showing my bump off too much. It's a heaven-send that there are retailers out there who understand that being pregnant doesn't mean I've to give up on looking good. Of course, there are other good maternity labels around, but somehow, I've never found the pretty dresses that I just can't do without when I'm attending a dressier evening party.
But really, I'm just happy with their cuts - I got my only pair of maternity jeans from there, and the cut proved to be fantastic for slimming down my legs. And I'm just in love with the trendy-looking dark wash too, since I've always been a jeans kind of girl.

Anna Sui gets two fashion awards in a month!
|
Here in Singapore, I know that a lot of girls are more familiar with Anna Sui the make-up, then Anna sui the fashion designer. But honestly, her runway fashion is something else to gawk at altogether. So I was happy for her when she was awarded the "Classic Icon of Fashion and Design Award" at the China Fashion Awards in Beijing on June 6 and another, the Geoffrey Beene Lifestyle Achievement at the CFDA Awards in New York on Jun 15, for she is the one who makes make-up such a joy for a lot of us women here.
The Geoffrey Beene Lifestyle Achievement award was presented to the Chinese-American by musician Jack White of the White Stripes. Prior to her acceptance, a group of 36 models appeared onstage in front of a dramatic Swarovski beaded curtain constructed 30,000 number of jet crystals custom-designed by Tony Award-winning set designer Scott Pask.
I do wish I were there to witness the latter event, since I heard that lots of Hollywood celebs were spotted and big name designers were there to collect other awards as well.
