IT is their third child, but the joy has dissipated not one bit for celebrity couple Evelyn Tan and Darren Lim.
Evelyn gave birth to baby boy Way Lim Daowei last Wednesday at 1.30pm at Thomson Medical Centre.
The couple looked blissful when The New Paper visited the family in their hospital suite one day later.
Evelyn also looked nothing like a woman who had endured 13 hours of childbirth agony just the day before.
Vibrant and chatty, she walked around the room without any trace of discomfort.
When Darren carried the 3.25kg Way in his arms, he told me he has almost forgotten how it was to carry such a tiny baby.
With a thick mop of black hair, thick lips and pointy ears, Darren and Evelyn agree that Way looks more like daddy.
Darren also told me he came up with the unusual name 'Way' during the delivery.
He explained to me that Way's Chinese name was selected following the Hainanese genealogy record.
According to it, the first letter of Way's Chinese name should be 'Dao'. It means 'the way', while the couple chose the second letter 'Wei', which means 'the only'.
Darren, a devout Christian, told me: 'I didn't understand why we took such a long time to think of a Christian name for him. So I prayed and I was referred to the name 'Way', derived from his Chinese name. It means that God's path is the only way.'
The 37-year-old daddy was with Evelyn all the time during the delivery and admitted that it was not easy for him to see his wife go through the pain.
Evelyn had chosen not to have epidural, a commonly-used anaesthesia in childbirth, in all three of her deliveries. But Darren said she barely screamed this time round.
He confessed: 'Xin tia (emotionally painful in Hokkien)... It brought me to tears and I thought let's not have any more children.'
The veteran actor said they had intended to have six children, but because of Evelyn's age - she's 35, they subsequently hope to have four instead. But they are leaving it up to God.
He added: 'She is a very, very strong woman. She wanted the birth to be as natural as possible and she didn't even agree to the gynaecologist's suggestion of breaking the water bag to speed up the birth.'
The couple's other children, 4-year-old Kristen and 2-year-old Jairus, like to stroke their little brother tenderly.
Looking at his wife and three children, he admitted to me: 'I think I'm extremely blessed. I don't know what I've done to deserve this but I know I'm living by grace every day.
'I have my health, children, family, work and everything... they are all given to me for nothing.'

It's truly remarkable... Anyway, congrats to Darren & Evelyn for the birth of their 3rd child...:)
however the fact that she didn't use painkillers are remarkable :)
U might need reading glasses.... All her 3 deliveries were WITHOUT painkillers !
