Football hubby wanted to give me the 'beating of my life'
by Arul John

Continuation of Madam Jane's story...

Reported to club

"When I reported this matter to the club's general manager early last October, the footballer confronted me a few days later and accused me of being a troublemaker.

"Max tried to keep us apart but his team-mate then slapped me with a folded newspaper."

Madam Jane called the police and made a police report. She later reported the matter to the club's GM. There were more problems.

On 31 Oct, she claimed her husband said the reason his club had been slow in renewing his contract was because of her earlier complaints to the club management. She said: "He told me that the club thought I was a troublemaker. I denied this and we had a quarrel in our bedroom.

"During the quarrel, he hit me and I hit the bed and my nose started to bleed."

Madam Jane called the police and lodged a police report. She suffered bruises and was treated at National University Hospital.

She then moved out and returned to her Jurong West flat.

When Max apologised for the assault, Madam Jane said she withdrew the police complaint.

But their attempt at reconciliation proved to be another nightmare.

On 17 Jan, during an argument over the future of their marriage, Madam Jane said: "Max held my arm tightly and said he would give me 'the beating of my life' if I did not agree to us living separately."

The next day, she applied for and received an Expedited Order against him.

This is an interim court order restraining him from committing violence on her.

On 20 Jan, while the couple were discussing the divorce proceedings, she said Max assaulted her again.

On 25 Jan, the Family Court granted her a Personal Protection Order after Max admitted to hitting and slapping her five days earlier.

She has since filed for a judicial separation.
