How to wear stick-on pearl tattoos
by Karen Tee

Pearls and delicate chain bracelets are the staples of a well-groomed fashionista.

Now you can cop this classic look in the form of stick-on tattoos.

At Chanel's spring 2010 runway show, the key accessories the models sported were ethereal adhesive tattoos that are a far cry from the tough tribal insignias that most stick-ons look like.

'I wanted to play with the Chanel symbols, the pearls, chains, wheat, as well as blossoms and small swallows that usually announce the arrival of spring,' says Peter Philips, global creative director of Chanel make-up, in an e-mail interview.

He drew the designs for the delicate decals, which created such a frenzy among fashion lovers - from fashion editors to those who saw the runway pictures online - that the stick-ons have become the must-have accessories of the season.

Priced at $105 for 55 temporary tattoos on five sheets of paper, Les Trompe-L'Oeil de Chanel will be available at the Chanel boutique in Takashimaya Shopping Centre and Chanel beauty counters at Metro Paragon and Takashimaya Department Store from next month.

The two beauty counters will take pre-orders from today, limited to three sets per customer.

To turn the spotlight on your stick-ons, keep your make-up understated and natural. A brown taupe smoky eye and nude lips are all you need to complement the decals.

For best results, apply the stick-ons on clean skin that is free of make-up, creams and oils.

Place the tattoo on the desired area, wet it with water and press for 30 seconds to transfer the pattern to your skin.

You can shower normally but avoid exfoliating or using loofahs and sponges on the areas with the stick-ons. With care, they can last for about three days.
