AMBROSE OLSEN, 24

Who: Born in Alaska, he began modelling in 2002 at the age of 17 after moving to New York City.

The talent was a model in high demand, and had worked for big
names such as Hugo Boss, D&G, Nautica, Dior Homme, Armani Exchange, and Louis Vuitton.

He’d also been featured in GQ Style, and was most recently seen in the Giorgio Armani Extreme Attitude fragrance commercial. His interests were history, architecture and listening to Mozart and 2Pac.

Died: April 22, 2010

Cause: Rumour has it that he hanged himself in his apartment in New York, and was found by a fellow model. No official details for the cause of death have been released.

LINA MARULANDA, 29

Who: Born in Medellin, Colombia, she began modelling when she was 12 years old, before debuting as a TV presenter for CM&News in 2002

She was also seen in a Columbian news network, Caracol television and modelled for magazines including SoHo Don Juan, Cromos, and G.

Died: April 22, 2010

Cause: She died after falling from the balcony of her sixth-floor apartment. Her death is considered a possible suicide. Marulanda was apparently in the midst of a divorce from second husband Carlos Onate.

They had been married for three months. Media reports say she was goign through a difficult time and was taking antidepressants.

DAUL KIM, 20

Who: Born in South korea the supermodel was featured regularly in managzines such as British Vogue and Dazed &
Confused, and on the covers of South Korean Vogue. She made her international catwalk debut in 2007, and was a regular on the runways in New York, Milan and Paris

She also modelled for designers such as Vivienne Westwood, Christopher Kane, Chanel and Alexander McQueen (who also killed himself in February).

Died: Nov 19, 2009

Cause: Kim hanged herself in her apartment in Paris. She apparently suffered from depression, and had written posts about being depressed, lonely and overworked on her blog.

LUCY GORDON, 28

Who: The British model-turnedactress was a face of CoverGirl in 1997. and had appeared on the covers of Italian Glamour and Elle before making her film debut in 2001. She acted alongside Heath Ledger in the 2002 film The Four Feathers and starred in Spider Man 3.

She also played actress and singer Jane Birkin on a biopic of singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg before her death.

Died: May 20, 2009

Cause: Gordon hanged herself in her Paris flat while her boyfriend, French cinematographer Jerome Almeras, was asleep in another room. Neighbours reportedly overheard them fighting the night before. She left two suicide notes – one with her last wishes regarding her estate, while the other was a letter for her parents.

Her friends said she had been affected by the recent suicide of a friend in Britain. She wrote her will a day before her death, splitting her estate between Almeras, her friends, her parents and her sister.

RUSLANA KORSHUNOVA, 20

>Who: Known as the Russian Rapunzel for her knee-length hair in the past, she was signed as a model when she was 15.

She appeared on the covers of French Elle and the Polish and Russian versions of Vogue, and appeared in print ads for Clarins Girbaud, Kenzo Accessories, Max Studio, Moschino, Paul Smith and Vera Wang lingerie.

Died: June 28, 2008

Cause: The model died after falling off the ninth floor of her Manhattan apartment’s balcony. She had written depressing blog posts, saying that she felt “lost”, and mercilessly stomped all over”.

Even though it was officially ruled as a suicide, conspiracy theories suggested that she might have wanted out of the industry but was prevented from leaving it by the Russian mafia, which reportedly runs the Eastern European modelling scene.
