MORE Singaporean parents are looking to astrologers to help select auspicious English names for their children, reported Sin Chew Daily.
Previously, parents only looked to astrologers to choose Chinese names for their children. Astrologer Chen Jun Rong was reported as saying that Singaporeans thought it was important to have English names for their children.
“However, we have yet to establish a system to select English names for our clients. We mainly choose the names based on their meaning, pronunciation and writing, whether they are suitable for the particular person,” he said.
Another astrologer, Dong Nong Zheng, said they would avoid names related to gods, tragic characters in myths or those suitable for both genders.
