The official grooming instructor has spoken, and she is impressed with the finalists of this year's Miss Singapore Universe.

Ms Ida Ong, who is the owner of modelling agency/grooming college IMP International, was the one who discovered Caldecott queens Zoe Tay and Fann Wong in the 1980s.

Ong, returning from her hiatus of more than a decade, has expressed her confidence in this year's contestants.

She thinks that Singapore may have a shot at this year's Miss Universe after the contestants undergo her training, which, according to her, involves quite a bit of reprimanding.

This year's Miss Universe pageant will take place in Brazil on September 12.
