At a press conference here in April, Taiwanese variety show host Pauline Lan rated Singapore women three out of 10 on the scale of how good they look.
But what does she think about the men in Singapore?
Life! posed the question to her during an interview recently and the 47-yearold sounds even more disdainful.
She says in Mandarin: "The men are even worse. Not sure how many points to rate them but it's worse than three. They are just so sloppy and don't bother about the way they look at all. They don't have to dress over-the-top like South Korean drama stars, but at least they should look clean, right?
"My general feeling about Singapore men is that they are very oily, whether it's the hair or otherwise. They are just very, very oily."
Clearly, the straight-talking persona that she carries on television - and has come to be known for - is no act.
Before the interview started, she had already pointed out random beauty and fashion mishaps borne by various people seated around the dressing room.
A public relations executive had barely stepped through the door when Lan remarked that her hair was too wet and should have been properly blown dry.
The TV host answered every question during the interview without so much as a pause to ponder them.
It was held during a brief break in between shoots for Lady First - Singapore, the local edition of her hit Taiwanese show Lady First, which has been dishing out beauty and fashion advice for the past decade.
Lan, who flies here from Taipei every few weeks to record a few episodes, says she has been having a blast since the local edition started airing last month.
"In Singapore, the weather is much hotter, so the girls here face different problems. I love the sun a lot myself, so it's been a great experience learning new tips to work around the hot weather."
Long before she became known for Lady First, she was a pop singer with more than 20 music albums to her name.
But she says she feels happiest when she is hosting Lady First.
Lan, who is single, says: "I just feel so blessed to have this show. Ever since I started hosting Lady First, I just feel so happy. People always lament that when they're making money doing something, they don't enjoy it. Or if they really enjoy it, there's no money.
"I'm so lucky that I'm making money doing something that I love so much. And I think the show will go on for much longer. We'll never run out of topics to talk about."

So be it,
the comments are from somebody who is not local,
who can't understand local issues..
Why let a foreigner pass such scathing sweeping comments and generalisation on both our local women or men?? Do you lack such self respect of yourself whether you are a guy or gal....
Why support someone who ridicules your fellow countrymen whether it be a guy or women?
Lets all boycott her TV programmes and products.....
That's the only way to shut her up and get her packing back to Taiwan.....:D
