The latest offering from the makers of beautiful qipaos and oriental chic Shanghai Tang is called "Devastating Beauty". Built around a social commentary on urbanisation and industrialisation, the label's Autumn/Winter 2010 collection was an effort that produced a collection of chic staples which you can quite effortlessly build up your own wardrobe with.
There are gorgeous prints and luxe materials of silks, satins, cashmere and wools from Shanghai Tang's latest efforts. The vivid prints that were used to create those ladylike qipaos come from blown-up pictures of satellite views of crowds, people and places and a bird's eyeview of highway networks. The final effect is a print that looks vibrant and refreshing.
Jade features often on the clothes too, Instead of using the stone on accessories, there are jade buttons on blouses, studs down the sides of harem pants and around the cuffs of sleeves to give a nice pop on an otherwise muted palette of blacks, chocolate and green.
Don't forget to check out its military capsule collection, so-called for the military-inspired outerwear of jackets and cardis in relaxed fits, mandarin collars as well as one trench coat with very awe-inspiring epaulettes and red cuffs.
