The Savvy Diva Seminar gets a thumbs-up

When the doors opened to the Savvy Diva seminar at Le Danz in Suntec City on Oct 30, 2010, a long line of eager readers could be seen queueing to register and check out the goodies that were in store for them.

Returning in a bigger and better way for the second year, ,ore than 160 of them had already signed up online to attend the second installment of this annual seminar, which reaches out to female PMEBs who are interested in knowing more about their health, as well as increasing their wealth, but there were even more walk-ins that day who wanted to sign up on the spot.

Included in the day's activities, were talks by experts such as Dr Karen Soh from Prive Clinic who shared insight about dermal fillers, Ms Caline Chew who explained what it meant to eat according to your blood type, Ms Nehal Kamdar, a senior dietician from Raffles Hospital who talked about eating and snacking healthily as well as Ms Mirriam MacWilliams, a millionaire trader who turned US$10k to US$2m in two years, as she shared how to work the stock market to your advantage.

There were also other interesting activities such as a face-reading session for readers, with early birds enjoying a free session as they waited for the seminar to begin.

Attendees were also treated to a goodie bag which came with attractive gifts from Q-Med, Soyjoy, Mary Chia, F&N,  Brands, Nuxe Cosmetics and Redken.

But not all attendees were female. Some brave men could be seen among the crowd too.

22-year-old Hadi Mazlan, an NSF, was one of them. He said: "My girlfriend told me that it would mostly be girls. But it’s not about whether there are more men or women in an environment, it is about the opportunity to learn. And I liked the talk on wealth."

He was enthusing about the talk "How to take control of your financial life" by millionaire trader Mariam Macwilliams.

Also on the itinerary for the day, various talks by different sponsors, with topics ranging from "How to look fabulous at any age", a talk discussing aesthetic options titled "Lose weight eating soy", as well as "Eating right for any blood type".

A lot of women were also curious about dermal fillers after Dr Soh's presentation and live demonstration, with some wanting to know more about the side effects of such procedures.

As the event drew to a close in the evening with a lucky draw, many oohs and aahs could be heard as winners names were announced, walking away with prizes such as a night's stay at the Royal Plaza on Scotts, a two-day trading course with Ms MacWilliams, spa voucers and a facial augmentation and contouring session.
