Lanvin adds Parisian glamour to H&M
by Lee Woo-young

Lanvin is this year's high-profile H&M collaborator.

Every year H&M hooks up with a high fashion brand or designer Sonia Rykiel, Jimmy Choo, Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney and Viktor & Rolf have collaborated with the fast fashion brand in the past. The collaborations have always received favorable criticism and achieved remarkable sales, leaving shoppers longing for the next one.

Lanvin for H&M proved that it was worth the wait, revealing clothes imbued with Parisian glamour and joyful accessories at a press conference Tuesday.

Alber Elbaz, artistic director of Lanvin, created luxurious, dressy and playful designs for womenswear which make sure that every single piece is unmistakably Lanvin. "My work is usually tailored to a very small group of people, but the collection for H&M was about trying to translate the dream of luxury to everyone. It was almost like going back to school for me," said Elbaz in a statement.

Each piece in the women's collection is uniquely designed, like the color-saturated floral mini dress with unevenly puffed shoulders, hot pink one-shoulder dress or the navy silk dress with ruffle sleeves and a ribbon at the waist.

The men's collection, designed by Lucas Ossendrijver, is a bit toned down compared to the women's, but still has its own wit and twists. Generally, they are a mixture of classic and casual, such as the tuxedo jacket paired with jogging pants. Lanvin also offers shiny accessories for all outfits, like shoes with bejeweled heels, embellished sunglasses and necklaces for women and metallic-finish shoes and oversized bowties for men.

The exclusive collection hits 200 stores worldwide, including both of H&M's road shops in Myeong-dong, central Seoul, on Nov. 23, at 8 a.m.

To prevent the pushing and shoving among excited shoppers that took place last year for the unveiling of the Sonia Rykiel collection, H&M in Seoul decided to hand out bracelets with the entrance time marked on them for womenswear shoppers, on a first come, first served basis. Around 20 shoppers will be able to enter the shop for a limited amount of time. Menswear shoppers can simply walk right in.
