Actress Jeanette Aw is known to be fiercely private.

But here's one thing Aw, who's appeared in dramas like Breakout (2010), doesn't mind talking about: her style icons.

During an interview with My Paper, the 33-year-old was thoughtful in her responses and came across as girlish and bubbly, peppering her answers with giggles - just like the Hollywood star she admires, Cameron Diaz.

"She's just a silly girl being herself. Even on red carpets, her make-up is...minimal. I like that she is so confident in projecting who she is," she said.

Another person she looks up to is classy Hong Kong actress Maggie Cheung, whom she describes as "a timeless beauty" who is "very simple, clean and confident" when it comes to her style.

Aw's descriptions of the style of the women she admires - "minimal" and "simple" - correspond with her own lifestyle choices.

Like Diaz, who is fond of surfing, Aw enjoys keeping fit. A former dancer, she de-stresses by jogging 5km every other day.

And, like Cheung, who had said in interviews that skincare should be fuss-free, Aw's skincare regime is ordinary.

She sleeps early; cleanses, tones and moisturises her skin; and she makes sure to use sunblock - the usual must-dos.

Aw and Cheung, both brand ambassadors for skincare brand Olay, are also fans of the same anti- ageing line. Cheung said earlier this year at a P&G event that she loves Olay Regenerist Wrinkle Relaxing Cream because it "nourishes my skin".

Aw told My Paper that Olay Regenerist Night Resurfacing Essence helps give her skin a dewy, fresh glow.

But, like any savvy woman, Aw knows that you can't rely entirely on products for flaunt-worthy skin.

When the actress is off-duty, you're likely to see her dressed in a T-shirt and a pair of jeans, or in a simple sun dress. And she won't have a scrap of make-up on her face.

This, she learnt from the most important woman in her life - her mother. Aw said she has never seen her mum with make-up on.

"But she takes good care of her skin," she said, adding that she works to emulate that dedication. But, if Aw must wear something on her already-perfect skin, a light foundation and a little concealer go a long way for her, she said.

An as artist, her face is subjected to all kinds of make-up, which is often slapped on thickly for shoots or promotional activities.

So, rejuvenating her skin from all that stress is important, she said.

Aw believes in having a minimalist look when she's off-duty, and this means just slapping on some loose powder and concealer before she heads out the door.

She uses SK-II's Cellumination Pancake Foundation as a concealer for under her eyes.

"It's very light and it covers very well," she said.
