KUALA LUMPUR: Chua Wen-Shyan has the most "uplifting" time of his life proposing to his girlfriend Lim Mee Wei.
He made his marriage proposal to Lim aboard a hot air balloon 12m in the air.
The pair beat 11 other couples and won the "Best Proposal" prize of the "Announce Your Love to the World" contest organised by Poh Kong Jewellers.
Chua's winning proposal was: "I promise to love you, take care of you, always be there for you. And I promise to always make sure that your tummy is full and you will never go hungry."
Chua, 23, and Lim 22, also received RM7,000 worth of jewellery from Poh Kong.
All the couples were chosen based on their creative declarations of love and they got to experience making their proposals in the balloon during a ceremony held at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian and Country Resort yesterday.
Each couple also received a diamond ring, an exclusive photography package from Touch & Tom Wedding Group and a stay at the Golden Palm Tree Iconic Resort and Spa.
Chua said he and Lim met at Monash University and started dating about two years ago.
"When she went to Australia, I realised that I could not live without her.
"So I travelled there to ask her to be my girlfriend," he added.
Both of them said they would tie the knot after completing their post-graduate studies.
Poh Kong marketing manager Elizabeth Choon said the contest had received overwhelming response.
"Through this campaign, we are able to give the couples a once-in-a-lifetime chance to propose on Dec 12, which is the last same-digit date of the century," she added.
