Married a year and loving it
by Germaine Lim

COMPARED to Ix, actor Randall Tan is still in the honeymoon phase a year after he tied the knot with actress Melody Chen.

Randall, 35, gushed to The New Paper: 'I love married life. It's something I've really enjoyed - proposing, preparing for the wedding and life after that.'

Ironically, the actor plays a womaniser in Happily Ever After.

He said: 'My character Vincent swears on not getting hitched and doesn't think he'll ever be.

'For me, it was weird to be uncomfortable about not wanting to get married.

'I believe wholeheartedly in happily ever after. There is a happy ending to all stories. I'm living mine.'

With married life comes the inevitable question: Is he and Melody, 31, planning to have kids?

Said Randall: 'Yes we are. But we're not going to sweat about it. If it happens, it happens. We're not going to pressure each other.'

He revealed that it's the couple's families who are more anxious.

The avid cook said: 'I thought my parents would be quite cool about this since they already have three grandsons from my sister. I have never seen my parents want me to have a kid so badly.

'They started bugging me even before Christmas.

'The sad truth is, it's not going to be cheap. We'll have whatever we can afford - we're just struggling actors. Two will be comfortable.'

He added: 'But if Mel says tomorrow that she's pregnant, I'll be ready.'

With just two more months to the couple's first wedding anniversary, Randall says he already has some plans.

'We went to Morton's for her birthday in November and we really enjoyed our time there. So maybe I'll take her there again.'
