Chic twist to vintage
by Meena Sreenivasan

What's enticing about the DKNY Jeans Spring 2013 collection is that it's incredibly ageless. Themed Electric Wanderlust, the classic jeans emerges with silhouettes that are linear and versatile. Head to toe prints and clean lines make for versatility and the casual denim is taken to new heights of sophistication this time.

An array of vintage favourites add a chic new twist and the twinset or sweater set (matching cardigan and a pullover) is reinterpreted with a voluminous overlay.

Designs such as trees with graphic messages return with new expressions while cold shoulder tops are great to cool the heat yet maintain that element of mystery.

Fabrics like cotton, terry, jersey and breezy open weave knits are easy to wear while silhouettes are kept sleek. Denim is more fitted. Separates drape the form to flatter without constriction. Denim jackets add casual flair to linen for day wear and re-appear in a sleek white tuxedo cut for the evening.

NEUTRAL HUES

The colour palette ranges from beautiful neutral hues like sand, warm ochre shades to fiery reds, electric blooms which showcase a vibrant expression of energy and passion.

Also seen are deep blues and an explosion of signature print blooms as well as neon lemon yellow which allow you to express your own personal style.

Within the confines of sharp lines and tailored silhouettes peep herringbone-printed denim which embodies a fusion of technology and denim culture.

Denim has evolved as a sharply-tailored and staple wardrobe addition while smart structured white shirts are teamed with slouchy pants.

To sum it up, the collection showcases urban attitude and casual sophistication that is easy and ageless.
