SINGAPORE - Cavan is not yet 10 months old, but he already shows how friendly and hyperactive he can be, said sales executive Dedric Png, 33, of his first-born son.
Yesterday, Cavan's easy-going nature clinched him the top prize in his age category at the Teck Ghee Healthy Baby 2013 competition.
Organised by the People's Association and grassroots leaders, the event kicked off Baby Singapore, a national baby show that aims to promote parenthood and family bonding. Baby Singapore is now in its sixth year.
A series of similar events are planned in various heartland venues until the end of next month.
Cavan's mother, senior administrative executive Joanne Hong, 30, told My Paper that the event was a great opportunity for Cavan and "also a good way for us to spend time together as a family".
In total, 120 children aged from six months to six years participated in the various contests at the event, which drew 530 people to Teck Ghee Community Club.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who is a Member of Parliament for Ang Mo Kio GRC, mingled with families and handed out prizes to the winning babies and their parents.
