How to style your hair in 5 minutes
by Gladys Chung

What are some of the latest hairstyling products that can help me style my hair in five minutes?

Assuming you have a good haircut (this makes maintenance a lot easier), try any one of these products.

All of the volumising and curl-defining products listed here can be used on dry or towel-dried hair.

If you prefer a sleeker finish, like how K-pop girl group Girls' Generation member Hyoyeon wears her hair, give your locks a blast with a hairdryer afterwards.

For volume, try Toni & Guy's Hair Meet Wardrobe Glamour Volume Plumping Whip (photo 1, $19.90, from selected Watsons and Guardian outlets).

Scrunch the souffle light product evenly onto hair and style to desired shape.

Shiseido Ma Cherie Hair Gelee Mist Airy Mush (photo 2, $17.90, from selected Watsons outlets) adds instant, subtle volume.

For more dramatic hair, try Wella's System Professional Delicate Volume Volumising Foam (photo 3, $49.43, call 1800-289-5509 for stockists) and blow-dry to desired shape.

To define curls and for texture, try Bed Head Tigi On The Rebound Curl Recall Cream (photo 4, $32, call 6743-5218 for stockists). At midday, if your curls are looking limp, simply scrunch hair and curls will spring back into shape.

Clairol Professional Coil Up Cream (photo 5, $17.12, call 1800-289-5509 for stockists) is ideal for thick hair - it protects hair from heat styling while accentuating curls. Another one to try is Liese Juicy Shower Moisturizing Hair Mist for Wavy Hair (photo 6, $14.90, from Watsons outlets, and selected supermarkets). Just spray it through the layers of your hair to add bounce to your locks.

Products that give hair a strong hold should always be used at the last step of the styling process. If not, it might be tricky for you to restyle your hair afterwards.

For products that give a soft-looking but firm grip on your locks, try Sebastian's Shine Crafter Moldable Wax Shine (photo 7, $56.50, call 1800-289-5509 for stockists). It keeps hair malleable but not stiff.

L'Oreal EverStyle Alcohol-Free Strong Hold Styling Spray ($15.90, from Watsons, Guardian and Sasa outlets) gets rid of frizz while making sure your hairstyle stays in place for the entire day.

For a matte finish, try Percy & Reed's Reassuringly Firm Session Hold Hairspray (photo 8, $26, from Sephora stores).
