Scars are not fading as fast as they used to
by Hong XinYi

Q Recently, I found that the scars from my facial are not fading as fast as they used to. Are there any masks or products that will remove the scars? I am a 20-year-old woman.

A Before I answer your question, let us pause to consider the root of your beauty conundrum. You are troubled that 'the scars from my facial do not fade as fast as they used to'. But, my dear, facials should not be giving you any scars at all.

Your skin should not be raw, broken or scarred in any way at the end of a facial. Instead, your complexion should be glowing and clearer.

To be safe, consider requesting that no extractions be done - bad extraction techniques are usually the root of these problems.

You might even consider not going for so many facials. You are only 20 and chances are your skin is doing pretty well on its own.

Now, for those scars. Clinique's education manager Jane Yap says exfoliation is the answer.

For the fastest results, use Clinique Turnaround Concentrate Visible Skin Renewer ($89) twice a day.

'This helps to lighten marks through multi-level exfoliation, which encourages a faster renewal of new skin cells,' she says.

I also find Kiehl's Acne Blemish Control Daily Skin-Clearing Treatment ($50) very effective when it comes to helping broken skin heal.

You can try this on your scars until they heal, then switch to Kiehl's Ultimate White Target Spot Whitening Treatment ($80) to lighten the darker pigmentation left behind.
