Say Hello to new outfits for the kitty's 35th birthday

Hello Kitty sure is cute for a 35-year-old, and getting cuter all the time with designers from five top Thai boutiques helping her celebrate her birthday with a wardrobe of new dresses.

The outfits will be auctioned off for charity.

Chanita Preechawitayakul of Senada Theory has channelled Hello Kitty's unwavering good cheer into romance with French lace and luxurious embroidery in her "Baby French Enfant" doll. There are even diamonds sewn into the back of the dress and the inner pants.

Disaya Sorakraikitikul of the Disaya label was inspired by Kitty's adorably naughty character to create a short evening dress.

"We used a laser cutting technique to make a signature pattern that's similar to our current autumn-winter collection," says Disaya. "We gave the outfit several layers too, just like an elegant evening dress."

Boop-oop-a-doop

Mollika Ruangkritya of Kloset set out to change common perceptions about fashion.

"These days we're seeing a lot of women dress in a way that makes them look less feminine, so we've given Hello Kitty a design that dates back to the 1920s - a loose dress with embroidered, glittering beadwork and chiffon to make it sweet."

Ornvimol Seniwon na Ayudhya of Playhound came up with "Future in the Raw", featuring a tree pattern, to remind city-dwellers to slow down once in a while and enjoy nature.

Saruda Nimpitakpong of Kunitar decided that Kitty really ought to be getting married if she's 35.

"My wedding design definitely has the sweet Kunitar style, but you can still see Kitty's own style in it. We added a bride's veil and a pink-pearl necklace for extra luxury, and made her skirt long to make her more attractive."
