I AM in the middle of my own fashion season.
Singapore is still experiencing the inaugural Fashion Season @ Orchard while the current season of Project Runway – every budding fashionista’s favourite show alongside America’s Next Top Model – had just concluded in the US.
And to add to the thrill, in a few days, it’s the start of Audi Fashion Festival 2010 and Blueprint (a trade event for the fashion industry).
Then there are swirling rumours that model Gisele Bundchen will make an appearance here on Wednesday, although not for the fashion events, but to promote her own line.
Also on Wednesday, I’ll be one of the judges at the Singapore finals of the Triumph Inspiration Awards 2010. Singapore will be sending someone to the London finals.
The malls around the country are also having their own shows – for example, Central is holding its shows every Saturday from May 1 onwards – and by the time the models are off the catwalk, it’s time to get started on the Great Singapore Sale.
Adding to that, the search for the next 20 women to be in this year’s The New Paper New Face competition will start around that period.
I’m both exhilarated and exhausted, and I’m running out of black clothes to wear.
(Here’s my take on dressing for fashion shows: I’ll leave the trendy colours and prints to the stick thin or the very young. When it comes to my undulating river of body fat, black is best.)
Looking forward
Let’s take things one trot at a time and just look forward to this week. Audi Fashion Festival starts Wednesday at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza while Blueprint opens its doors at The Pit Building on Thursday.
Some of the shows are ticketed, so you’ll have to log on to www.tdc.sg to get yours.
