X marks the spot

The venue was non-descript, but the star who graced the event where Calvin Klein launched its new Spring 2010 collection - Calvin Klein X, promised to be nothing of that sort.

While many well-known faces were spotted among the guests, designer Ashley Isham, stage and screen actor Hossan Leong and even winner of the FSO model competition Li Yang - just to name drop a few - the evening's VIP and one of the new faces of the label's new collection was Hidetoshi Nakata, one of the most famous Asian footballers of his time.

The other three famous faces - and the first time that Calvin Klein has used four famous faces together, are Kellan Lutz of Twilight fame, former fashion model Mehcad Brooks, professional tennis player Fernando Verdasco.

If you expected to read about a fashion show catwalk with Hidetoshi leading the bevy, we're sorry to disappoint. The man made his entrance to the event venue surrounded by black-suited security types and was ushered most efficiently from his Audi R8 to the stage where he entertained questions from guests, before finally being hustled off to the VIP area to presumably enjoy the rest of his night, with little fuss.

Models who were previously slinking around inside human-sized cages wearing only their underwear were cleared off as soon as Hidetoshi arrived - and we can assume that was deliberate since the event organisers couldn't have attention detracted from him.

When asked what he was wearing closest to his skin, he replied rather coyly: "Calvin Kleins, of course." Of course, and by the way, the underwear in the label's latest collection is made of cotton modal and microfiber for comfort and fit, in case the guys are actually interested to know.

What definitely caught our attention though, was a certain lady, rather well-known on the local society circuit, whose thorough enjoyment of the proceedings were evident from what she went on to do.

It must have been all that show of skin that got her to muster up enough bravado and go up to one of the handsomely chiselled male models and asked for a kiss. And the model, sporting fellow that he is, returned her attention with enthusiasm.

Cheers to Calvin Klein for loosening any inhibitions on our party scene.
