Frida Giannini, creative director at Gucci presented a collection bursting with iconic and essential pieces! Frida Giannini: I wanted to create a sort of duality which on one side represents everything that has come from our roots, our rich heritage, our craftsmanship and a quality which I think is unique and this is the reason why Gucci has been so well known for almost 90 years; and then on the other side of this duality there’s the idea of always looking to the future, using new materials and techniques for fabrics, skins, precious skins and accessories. So creating this balance is a new key for the product and the image of the brand. The knitwear is all handmade and is very rich and luxurious because it is woven with alpaca, cashmere and camel hair. I think it was interesting to have a look that was very seventies and vintage but at the same time very soft and handmade because in the seventies this kind of knitwear was very rough and scratchy: I thought it was nice to give new life to this kind of sweater.
