SINGAPORE - Local blogger Wendy Cheng, better known as Xiaxue, has revealed that she is pregnant.

In a post uploaded on Sept 19, Cheng says she found out she was pregnant on National Day (Aug 9), but opted to wait before breaking the news online due to the "Chinese superstition" of revealing pregnancies only after the first trimester.

Cheng blogged that she is 11 weeks pregnant, just one week shy of the three-month mark, but chose to make the announcement on her husband's birthday.

She added that her first trimester has been fraught with frequent bouts of morning sickness and an aversion to foods she once used to love.

She can no longer stomach "watery soups", creamy food, vegetables, and even the taste of plain water disgusts her, she says.

Instead, she reaches for carbonated soft drinks, something she never used to like.

It will be the first child for both Cheng, 28, and her husband, Mike Sayre, 31. The couple got married in 2010.
