Who says you have to wear jewellery that signifies your birth month? Singapore sustainable jeweller Choo Yilin has launched a capsule collection - XO, Cherry Blossom - with the intention of inspiring women to create their own stories in the form of jewellery.

So if you were born in November but never fancied the colour of the semi-precious citrine stone - that month's birthstone - and always found March's sky blue topaz, which signifies loyalty, more up your alley, the local jeweller wants you to go ahead wear sky blue topaz.

A continuation of the brand's Sculptural Cherry Blossom jade series, the capsule collection features bud and blossoming flowers - in line with the label's nature-inspired organic, signature designs. Twelve different gemstones make up the Bud range, and you will find glorious gold petal flowers in the Bloom range.

"We wanted clients to design their own personal meaningful stories. Clusters of detachable gemstone pendants, each representing the birth month of their loved ones, could be hung from a necklace. Clients could choose gemstone rings to stack against each other, not only for their colour, but also for the emotional significance a particular stone might have for them," explains founder and principal designer Choo Yilin about XO, Cherry Blossom.

We think that we have found the perfect gift for that hard-to-please friend or family member. Instead of her birth stone - though that would make a lovely gesture - why not surprise her with a rose gold Bloom pendant (that represents hope) with the Bud pendant of the love of her life's birth month hanging off it? She will be able to keep her loved one, and hope, close to her heart, hanging from the necklace.

The good people at Choo Yilin have also launched a personalised VIP shopping service. A personal stylist will go to your home or office to showcase the brand's latest collections and also do consultations for bespoke pieces. It's a great idea for a party with your girlfriends or a time saving solution if you are too busy to complete your Christmas shopping.
