Feng vows to make Ziyi 'happiest'

Shanghai - Newly divorced singer Wang Feng opened up about his budding romance with actress Zhang Ziyi at his concert last Saturday and pledged to make her "the happiest woman in the world".

NetEase news website, citing fans, said Zhang, 34, was in tears in the audience as Wang, 42, spoke on stage.

The couple are said to have been going out for months.

They were photographed at an Eason Chan concert in Hong Kong in July, before Wang announced the end of his low-key second marriage on Weibo in September and rumours got out that Zhang's romance with television host Sa Beining was over.

In his declaration of love for Zhang last Saturday, Wang said: "I imagine a day you and I are old." He said he could picture them helping each other walk and telling their friends how their love is everything to them.

"I want you to be the happiest woman in the world, not because of the fame, status and wealth you have accumulated in this life, but simply because of my silent, enduring love," he said.

In an allusion to the negative media attention, he said: "I imagine a day we can walk in the sun without wearing sunglasses and masks. People don't only raise camera phones at and talk about us, but can also react with friendly smiles."

He added: "I imagine a day I can hold you and no longer feel the strength and grievance you're emanating to resist all this filth and injustice."

At the end of his speech, he sang his song I'm So In Love With You, NetEase said.

The audience started chanting "Zhang Ziyi" and "together", the report said.

At a concert last month, Wang had mentioned his romance with Zhang, but coyly. Instead of singing "when I think of you", for instance, he sang "when I think of Yi", NetEase said.

Online, his confession of love was talked about, but eclipsed by Chinese football club Guangzhou Evergrande's win of the AFC Champions League.

Netizens, noting that his announcement of his divorce had been put in the shade by pop queen Faye Wong's split, joked that they felt sorry for him and his unfortunate timing, NetEase reported.
