Reaching out to single, Chinese-speaking mothers

KUALA LUMPUR - Wanita MCA is reaching out to Chinese-speaking single mothers who are looking for business opportunities via its upcoming Women's Economic Convention.

The convention, targeted at helping interested Chinese women entrepreneurs through a series of talks, forums and business-matching sessions, will be held in Mandarin.

"Usually, such events are conducted in Bahasa Malaysia or English. Carrying it out in Mandarin will help women who don't speak other languages," said Wanita MCA chief Datuk Heng Seai Kie.

She said women of other races who understand Mandarin were also welcome to attend.

Jointly organised by Wanita MCA and the Malaysia Chinese Women Entrepreneurs Association (MCWEA), Women's Economic Convention will take place from 9am to 4pm on March 8 at San Choon Hall, Wisma MCA in conjunction with International Women's Day.

In line with "Inspiring Change", the theme of International Women's Day 2014, the convention covers a range of topics such as opportunities and challenges faced by today's women entrepreneurs, ways to develop the overseas market as well as the policies, schemes and incentive packages offered by Bank Negara for the group.

The business-matching session will enable participants to look for business partners and opportunities for entrepreneurship and expansion of business, said Heng.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will launch the event.

Wanita MCA is expecting 1,000 participants. A nominal registration fee of RM10 will be charged. Those who are interested can register with Wanita MCA divisions, the MCA website (www.mca.org.my) or MCWEA.
