The annual Fashion Steps Out (FSO) will start today and end on May 18. Now in its fifth year, the event aims to draw shoppers to Orchard Road with fashion shows, shopping deals and style events.
Here are the highlights:
ORCHARD FASHION RUNWAY
Saturday, 8.30pm, spanning the stretch of road from Ion Orchard to Paragon
Watch 150 models take to a 660m-long runway that runs from the Scotts Paterson junction to Bideford junction.
They will wear the latest looks from labels such as Paris-based label Manish Arora, Hong Kong label i.t, London-based label Ashley Isham, Italian label Max&Co. and Beijing-based lingerie and swimwear brand Aimer. This is the first year that the show will feature beachwear.
Expect a lively show, with 10 Harley Davidson motorcycles carrying some models into the show. Some lanes and roads will be closed to vehicular traffic from 6pm.
FASHION TOWER
Now till May 18, light-up from 6.30pm to midnight daily, the road in front of Tangs Orchard
To set the stage for FSO, its creative director Jeffrey Tay has created a 10m-high tower in the shape of a mannequin with LED rope lights that stands on the road outside Tangs Orchard.
The tower, which was inspired by fashion illustration, marks the starting line of the Orchard Fashion Runway.
