Is local actor Chen Hanwei not biologically related to his parents?

This was what a mysterious woman caller revealed when she contacted Hanwei some 10 years ago, after he had finished filming a drama series in which he played a character called "Mou xiao Feng".

The 40-year-old actor shared this on a local TV talkshow recently, reported Chinese evening daily, Lianhe Wanbao.

Back then, he has just returned to his hometown in Malaysia when he received the phone call early in the morning. The woman caller told him: "Your parents are not your birth parents. You should check." She hurriedly put down the phone after that.

While he felt bothered by the call at first, he is not angry with his parents now.

Hanwei said during the show: "I never bothered asking my parents about it, neither did I inform them about that mysterious phonecall. I don't want to know the truth because I know my parents love me and have done a lot for me."

He is an only child.

When interviewed by Lianhe Wanbao yesterday, he said firmly: "I won't ask my parents and I don't want to know the truth. I just wanted to tell the mysterious woman on the phone through the talk show that whatever she says will not affect my relationship with my parents."

He also revealed that the woman has called him a few more times regarding the matter, but he is not keen on acknowledging his birth parents.

He said: "No! I will never acknowledge them. I don't think there is a need for that. It doesn't matter whether my parents are my birth parents or not. They have showered me with love all these years and for that, I am very thankful. Fate brought us together."

Chen said that he called his parents who were living in Johor Bahru immediately after the airing of the talk show. His mother was weeping and apologising profusely.

"My mother didn't say anything, she just wept and apologised to me. She said she didn't know this matter had bothered me for so many years," Chen said, stifling his tears.
