The quintessential anti-It bags

They are definitely not your typical branded luxury bags. Think of Lulu Guinness and you will think of fun and gorgeous bags that stand out from the rest of the leather-toting monogrammed crowd.

Diva was recently invited to attend a lovely English tea party at Sole 2 Sole - to sneak a peek at Lulu Guinness' new Autumn/Winter range and celebrate the British accessories designer's 20th anniversary. Of course, we indulged in the pretty tea cakes and some very funky chocolate lips too that made the bags and accessories look so much prettier afterwards.

But really, it was the limited editions that we were excited to lay our eyes on, with signatures such as the iconic "Lips" clutches, "Fan" bags, "Rose Baskets" and the Birdcage Bag that had us looking for more than just a glance. After all, when a designer creates a piece that is all about whimsical fun (why would a bag look like a birdcage, or a pair of lips, otherwise?) but still has a practical function (it does work as a bag to hold all a girl's things), you have to more than admire the creative process.

And speaking of limited editions, Lulu also collaborated with celebrated animatronics and special effects designer Adam Wright to bring the Birdcage Bag to life, in a manner of speaking. Yes, a bird in a cage that sings and moves. But sorry girls, there's only one of this, so you can forget about owning it.

But if you still do want to get your hands on one these gems, there is an updated version of the designer's original Birdcage bag that comes with a drawer at the bottom to allow you to fit a lipstick, mobile phone and cab fare into it - all you'll need for a girls' night out. The original one came embroidered and handmade, with a button at the base of the bag that makes the bird sing when you press on it. The latest version is a limited edition, so get one soon if you are thinking of it.

Otherwise, to simply admire these modern treasures, you can go on down to the Atrium (Galleria 2) at Millenia Walk, from September 9 to  September 22, 2009 to view them, as there will be a public
