Harajuku street style arrives in Singapore
by Amalina Zulkefli

Lovers of Japanese street fashion, rejoice! Street styles right from the heart of Japan's renown youth hubs, Harajuku and Ginza, are now in town!

The Harajuku Street Style pop-up store located at TANGS PlayLab features the latest and fashion-forward collections from 11 Japanese brands.

These celebrated brands are in Singapore for the first time and they are Urban Research, MOMOTARO JEANS, KBF, Beauty & Youth United Arrows, COEN, KISUKE, AZOTH, Osewaya, PLUGIN, OLIVE des OLIVE, DIVAS and BARCLAY.

The pop-up store concept is also a first here, it launched recently with an exclusive store preview and fashion show. Diva was in the thick of all the action to sniff out the juiciest and hottest trends.

While the price range of items averaged at about $100, there were also little gems to be found such as cute floral hair accessories which costs only $12.

Many of the brands showcased cotton blouses and tops which are very wearable in our hot and humid climate.

Another thing to look out for are the BARCLAY combat boots which come in three different colours - black, brown and tan (above). Pair it with a cute little dress and you're good to go.

Celebrated Japanese photographer Rei Shinto made a special appearance to launch the pop-up store.

She was on the look-out for fashionably dressed TANGS shoppers to photograph them.

Out of her selection of 10 best dressers, the shopper who receives the most votes via an online vote on the TANGS website will win return plane tickets to Japan.

The 11 brands are available at TANGS for a limited time only.

The Harajuku pop-up store will continue to operate in TANGS Orchard, Level 3 from now to January 31, 2010. Following that, it will move to TANGS Vivocity, Level 1 from February 6 to 14.
