Hunger games star criticised for being 'too fat'

Heard about the “fatness of Katniss” yet?

One of the more fascinating things I’ve read about blockbuster movie The Hunger Games is how leading lady Jennifer Lawrence revealed that fans criticised her casting, claiming she was “too fat, too pretty and too blonde” to play protagonist Katniss Everdeen.

In a way, they do have a point.

She supposedly hails from the poverty-stricken District 12, where people are constantly facing starvation and she has to go hunting for birds and squirrels to eat.

So how come she doesn’t look as emaciated as the rest of her townsfolk? Perhaps the 21-year-old US actress’ baby fat and chipmunk cheeks are to blame.

They – as well as her other meaty body parts – were on full display during the international press juggernaut of The Hunger Games.

But it hasn’t been an easy red carpet marathon for Lawrence.

With her brief track record, the Hollywood newbie still comes off a little unpolished, awkward and uncomfortable on the style front.

Then again, Kristen Stewart didn’t fare much better on her first Twilight outing back in 2008.
