Cheap beauty remedies are big hits in tight budget UK
by Lee Woo-young

A cream, intended to soothe nappy rash, has become a hit face cream for women in Britain.

U.K. supermarket chain Waitrose launched the Baby Bottom Butter in 2005, designed to allay irritation of the skin on baby bottoms. Now it's selling like hotcakes as more women experience the true value of the cream - not only protecting babies' bottoms, but also their skin from aging, the Daily Mail reported Tuesday.

Priced at just 2 pounds 54 pence (S$5), the cream outsells other skin products at the supermarket and is reported to be much better than one of the most expensive face creams -- Crème de la Mer, which cost as much as 286 pounds for 60ml.

"It makes my foundation look super dewy and youthful too. It is so much better than all the expensive face cream I have tried - including Crème de la Mer," wrote a customer on mumsnet.com.

Another user left a comment on the same website, saying "I can't even remember what made me put it on my face one day but OMG - it is fab."

Solution to baldness, just S$31

A 15 pound (S$31) nanofiber spray for hair loss treatment will probably irritate the hot-tempered Gordon Ramsay of Hell's Kitchen, who spent 30,000 pounds to cover up his thinning hair.

Prison worker John Banks, 47, bought a nanofiber spray at just 15 pounds and filled the empty spots on his head, Daily Mail reported Monday.

"It just shows you don't have to be a rich celeb like Gordon Ramsay to cover up your baldness. I was amazed about how quickly the treatment worked; people noticed straight away and gave me compliments," said Banks in delight in the interview with Daily Mail.

It has been three to four years since his hair loss has worsened. And it worried his fiancée Claire Sharman who even joked she wanted to marry him before he lost all of his hair.

Now he's confident with his look after using the spray. "But when I go out with Claire I want to look my best for myself and for her," he said.

Banks found the Nanofibres by Nanogen on the Internet in effort to search non-surgical solution to his baldness.
