Country class

Designers transformed basket weaves, clogs and peasant prints into It summer outfits.

Stefano Pilati tapped Yves Saint Laurent’s archives to revive the label’s peasant influences.

One of the most adorable looks was the flounced wrap skirt with strawberry motifs (photo 1).

Roberto Cavalli (photo 2) made a surprise departure from his high-octane evening gowns as he, too, heeded the country call, resulting in a collection of floral dresses and silk button-downs.

Herve Leger by Max Azria (photo 3) stuck faithfully to skin-tight mini-dresses but applied hand-crafting techniques such as braiding and crochet, as well as sandy neutral tones, for a rustic respite.

Nomadic nuances were also in favour with Belgian designer Diane von Furstenberg, as can be seen from this dreamy white T-shirt dress with chiffon floral applique (photo 4).
