Which businesses make it to the Singaporean family's most-friendly list?
In an unusual contest that set out to identify which businesses made it a point to roll out the red carpet for families, consumers were encouraged to send in photos of themselves at their favourite ones - be it a restaurant, a department store, or the neighbourhood grocery shop.
They were also asked to describe how the business fulfils their family needs.
The purpose of the contest was to encourage businesses to welcome families as their customers through strategy, services and infrastructure, and highlight to consumers that businesses are doing more to welcome multi-generational families to their establishments, even in small gestures.
The contest obviously struck a chord with Singaporeans who love eating, shopping and going out, with a total of 3,488 entries received over six weeks.
Supported by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS), the Businesses for Families Council (BFC), the ‘We Welcome Families’ Photo Contest sussed out businesses that Singaporeans considered the most family-friendly, consumers identified new businesses that practice the ‘We Welcome Families’ mindset.
The contest also aims to encourage other businesses that heard of the campaign to join the Businesses for Families Council growing community of accredited Markers & Pledgers.
These are businesses that have met the criteria of a family-friendly environment through the three main pillars of ‘infrastructure’, ‘service’ and ‘strategy’.
The top three winners walked away with a cash prize of $2,000, $1,500 and $1,000 respectively; while 20 consolation winners won $150 each. A variety of weekly spot prizes such as iPad, Resorts World Sentosa vouchers and HD Flip Camcorders were also presented to participants during contest period.
