Joanne Peh supportive of her man, on screen and off
by Jocelyn Lee

Actress Joanne Peh may have missed out on a Best Actress nomination at this year's Star Awards, but she is proud that her actor-boyfriend Qi Yuwu will be in the spotlight instead.

China-born Qi, 37, is not only nominated for Best Actor, he has also been nominated twice in the Favourite Onscreen Couple category for the same role in The Dream Makers.

In the show, he plays a commercial director and a sweet caring boyfriend opposite actresses Jeanette Aw and Rui En .

Peh, 30, said "I don't think actors act to win something. Whichever awards he wins, I am happy for him.

"His role in The Dream Makers is a breath of fresh air and I am proud of him. He's the best actor in my heart and I think that is enough."

The couple started dating a year ago.

Thanking the cast and crew of C.L.I.F 3, Peh said that it is "through this show that I found the most important guy of my life".

In C.L.I.F. 3, she reprises her role of CID officer Xinyi, the girlfriend of investigating officer Yaojia (Qi).

For Peh, acting as a reel-life couple with Qi had its advantages.

"We understand and know each other more through acting opposite each other and we get to spend more time together," she said.

"We are a lot more sensitive, we have a better gauge of each other's emotions and we rub off each other. There isn't any disadvantage or difficulty."

Even though she is playing the same character, Peh had more to deal with in C.L.I.F. 3 as Xinyi now suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder.

She said: "It's heavier. It can be physically tiring especially if I have been crying the entire day for a scene. I can really feel this pressure on my chest and it feels like the physical aftermath of a very traumatic experience."

"It can be hard to come out of the role right away, but thankfully I don't have any (repercussions) from the role after filming wrapped," she added.
