THREE months ago, TV presenter Jamie Yeo was preparing to get married. Now, the 33-year-old is getting ready for a greater role.
She’s going to be a mum.
The New Paper understands that she is 14 weeks pregnant with a girl and she has already tied the knot with 35-year-old Englishman Thorsten Nolte in a low-key ceremony.
Ex-husband of five years Class 95 deejay Glenn Ong, 39, confirmed Yeo’s pregnancy when The New Paper contacted him yesterday. He said Yeo had informed him of the news via SMS on Monday.
He added: “She also apologised for the things she did that hurt me because I’m a good person and said it is the one regret in her life.”
Ong declined to elaborate, but said he accepted her apology and “sincerely (wishes) them all the best”.
Yeo had told The New Paper in May that she prefers girls while Mr Nolte has no preferences.
She said: “(Having kids) is something we both want. We’re ready for it.”
One kidney
But Yeo may have a high-risk pregnancy because she was born with only one kidney.
Her condition, called renal agenesis, is not usually life-threatening as long as the single kidney is healthy.
The Stomp Star Blogger revealed her condition for the first time on her blog in 2008.
She told The New Paper then that although having one kidney has never given her major health issues, her condition has affected her reproductive system and that she’s more susceptible to a high-risk pregnancy.
She said then: “If I do intend to get pregnant, I have to get myself checked more frequently.
“But again, it’s not a big deal because my gynaecologist has treated patients with similar problems (who have given birth successfully). And even if the baby has only one kidney, I know it’ll be fine because my dad and I are fine.”
Her 60-year-old father also has renal agenesis.
Yeo and Mr Nolte had met through a mutual friend at The Prodigy concert at Fort Canning Park in early February last year.
That same month, Ong announced on his Morning Express radio show that he and Yeo had split after five years of marriage.
The following month, The New Paper broke the news about Yeo and Mr Nolte’s romance when they made their first public appearance as a couple at the adidas Originals 60th Anniversary House Party.
Ong, who is now dating fellow Class 95 deejay Jean Danker, told us in March last year that he and Yeo had led mostly separate lives since April 2008 despite still living together.
In an exclusive interview with The New Paper in May, Mr Nolte revealed that he split with his American wife of two years just before he relocated from the UK to Singapore.
He was posted here 21/2 years ago as the Asia Pacific managing director of marketing conglomerate MEC Interaction.
He now runs a marketing firm, Upfront Media, which he co-owns with Yeo.
In May, Mr Nolte whisked an unsuspecting Yeo off to Tokyo for an elaborate proposal cum birthday treat.
He flew her to the Japanese capital on business class and wined and dined her at a Michelin three-star restaurant to celebrate her 33rd birthday.
Yeo wrote on her Stomp Star Blog that they were at a wishing well at a shrine when he “took out the loveliest, most sparkly ring I’d ever seen and asked me to marry him”.
Yeo told The New Paper in May that they were planning to invite only 100 guests to their wedding.
